Outside of doing science and writing novels, I like to to challenge my neurons in impossible tasks. These include:
> Arranging music for and playing flute. I’ve played the flute since grade school, but my reasons for playing keep evolving. Most recently, those reasons involve putting together difficult arrangements that I can’t even play. > Playing taiko. I started my taiko journey at Oberlin as one of the founding members of Oberlin
College Taiko, and have been a member of Seattle Kokon Taiko since 2012, playing all around the Pacific Northwest.

> Figure Skating. Last but definitely not least, I am a nascent adult figure skater, and member of the Kraken Skating Academy here in Seattle. This is probably the hardest activity I’ve attempted, especially beginning as an adult, but the feeling of achieving what at first seems impossible is an invaluable life lesson!
