Future Research

So, where is my research going from here?

reconstructed hair cells in different colors
Seven reconstructed hair cells from the zebrafish lateral line. All of these cells except the yellow one have been regenerated 24 hours post damage.

I am fascinated by how intracellular organelles can shape the lives of electrically excitable cells, and hope to continue this research trajectory into my own lab. I am also interested in neuronal regeneration, and their integration into preexisting circuitry. I hope to combine serial block-face microscopy, electrophysiology, and genetic tools to study organelles’ roles in neuronal function and regeneration. This will provide a nanoscale picture of how organelles govern the inner lives of neurons and other electrically excitable cells.
